Privacy policy

1. Who we are

This site, preinstitute.net, belongs to Professional Real Estate Institute Inc. (PREI), a real estate school at 101 Calle Méndez Vigo Oeste, Suite 604, Mayagüez, Puerto Rico 00680. We are accredited by the Puerto Rico Real Estate Board (Junta de Corredores, Vendedores y Empresas de Bienes Raíces de Puerto Rico, Lic. CA-148) and in the state of Florida by the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (Lic. ZH1002924).

This policy describes the site as it works today. If we add new features, we will update it before turning them on.

2. Information we collect

We only collect what you give us:

• Enrollment application. First name, initial and last names, date, mailing and physical address, phone, email, occupation, workplace, whether you have lived in Puerto Rico for more than a year, class availability, whether you have a high school diploma, college studies, the course you want, your certification and the name for the digital signature.
• Paper form. If you download the form and email it to us, we receive the same information in that email.
• Communications. What you write to us by email, WhatsApp or social media, or tell us by phone.

We do not ask for Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers or card details on this site.

3. Information collected automatically

• The site does not use its own cookies, analytics tools or advertising.
• Hosting. The site is hosted on Netlify, which, like any server, logs technical data for each visit (IP address, browser, page visited and time) to run and protect the service.
• Map. The Contact page shows a Google Maps map. When it loads, Google may receive data from your browser and use cookies under its own privacy policy.

4. What we use it for

• Processing your enrollment application and contacting you to confirm it.
• Answering your questions about courses, schedules, payments and requirements.
• Keeping the student records required by the agencies that accredit us, when applicable.
• Protecting the site against abuse and spam.

We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not use it for third party advertising.

5. Who we share it with

Only with the services we need to operate, and only what is needed:

• Netlify, which receives and stores the applications sent from the site.
• Stripe, if you pay the deposit online (see section 6).
• Google (email and Google Drive) and WhatsApp, when you write to us through them.
• Authorities and regulators, when the law, the Board or the DBPR require it.

6. Payments

The enrollment deposit is paid on a page hosted by Stripe, a payment processor. Stripe receives your card details directly; PREI does not see or store them. Stripe handles that information under its own privacy policy.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your application and our communications for as long as we need them for your enrollment and for the records we must keep as a school. If you do not end up enrolling, you can ask us to delete your application.

8. What you can ask us

At any time, you can ask us to:

• show you the information we have about you;
• correct it if it is wrong or incomplete;
• delete it, except what we must keep by law or for the agencies that accredit us;
• stop sending you messages.

9. Security

The site only works over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) and limits access to applications to our staff. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

10. Minors

Our courses are for people 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with its effective date.
